State Budget
Stenger
Government Relations (SGR) successfully secured passage of a comprehensive
update to Chapter 125 – “Tied House Laws” for
the Tavern League of Wisconsin. The update was necessary to bring
retailers into compliance with laws regulating the relationship
between brewers-wholesalers-retailers. It was the Tavern League's
top legislative priority for the legislative session.

1999
Wisconsin Act 109
SGR
worked with a large coalition, including retailers, brewers, wholesalers,
law enforcement and others to pass proactive drunk driving legislation.
The legislation targeted repeat offenders and high blood alcohol
content (BAC) offenders. Act 109 included creation of first Statewide
SafeRide Grant Program in the country, which was a Tavern League
of Wisconsin priority. |

SGR
successfully secured passage of licensure for athletic trainers.
The Wisconsin Association of Athletic Trainers had been lobbying
for licensure since 1975, and despite Governor Thompson's promise
to veto any new licensure bills, we prevailed.
